Mercedes has 40,000 Europe orders for redesigned C class

FRANKFURT (Reuters) -- DaimlerChrysler has already received 40,000 orders from western Europe for the new Mercedes-Benz C class that hits European showrooms at the end of this month, it said today. The C class is the top-selling Mercedes model. The outgoing model family has sold more than 2 million units since it was rolled out in March 2000. DaimlerChrysler CEO Dieter Zetsche said in January he thought the new generation of C class could beat that total and that the company would make more money on each C-class car sold than it had on the previous version.
