F1 team McLaren's parent company, McLaren Group, recorded a profit last year of nearly $23 million, according to accounts filed at Companies House in the UK. Led by team principal Ron Dennis, the firm made a loss of $2m in 2004. The sale of more than 1000 Mercedes-Benz SLR supercars is almost certainly responsible for the boost. Total turnover rose to $422 million, up from $406m in 2004 and $297m in 2003. Responding to the figures, Dennis described 2005 as an 'excellent year', despite failing to win either formula one title. |
