DaimlerChrysler denies it plans Kazakh joint venture
< Reuters / October 18, 2006 - 9:00 am | FRANKFURT -- DaimlerChrysler denied today that it sought to establish a joint venture in the central Asian state of Kazakhstan.
"There are no plans to set up a joint venture or joint production or anything like that," a company spokesman said.
The Kazakhstan government said in a statement earlier today that Prime Minister Danial Akhmetov had discussed the possibility of a joint venture with DaimlerChrysler officials in the capital Astana.
"The prime minister has ordered the Ministry of Industry and Trade to set up a special working group to analyse the market for potential consumers, as well as opportunities for selling the joint venture's products in neighboring countries," the statement said.
