Mercedes-Benz to sell diesel-powered SUVs in US in 2008

DOW JONES NEWSWIRES - - DaimlerChrysler AG's (DCX) Mercedes-Benz unit will sell diesel-powered versions of its M- R- and GL-Class sport-utility vehicles, beginning in 2008.

Mercedes-Benz said its Bluetec technology cuts nitrogen oxide emissions by adding a urea-based solution into the exhaust stream.

The new models will be the first diesel-powered vehicles to meet the Environmental Protection Agency's BIN5 emissions standards for all 50 states, the company said.
