September Discount is on with new '0' Percent Loans

AUBURN HILLS MI - - DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler will replace its employee-price discounts with six-year, no-interest loans starting today to help clear out 2006 cars and trucks, a dealer said.

The automaker's dealers were told the financing will be offered until Sept. 30 and will be limited to people with "very good" credit ratings, said Alan Helfman, a Chrysler vice president in Houston.

Chrysler joins General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. in using no-interest loans for up to six years as their U.S. sales decline and they try to help dealers make room for 2007 models. Through July, sales of cars and light trucks fell 10 percent at Chrysler, 9.7 percent at Ford and 14 percent at GM.
