U.S. crude, gasoline supplies drop: Energy Dept

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- The Energy Department said crude supplies fell a bigger-than-expected 3.4 million barrels for the week ended June 23 to total 343.7 million. The news lifted August crude by 73 cents to $72.65 a barrel after an earlier low of $72.05. Motor gasoline inventories stocks fell unexpectedly by 1 million barrels to total 212.4 million barrels. Distillate supplies rose 1.8 million barrels to 126.3 million. July unleaded gas added 0.65 cent to $2.205 a gallon and July heating oil was at $1.9675 a gallon, up 0.88 cent.
