New Mercedes GLK, SL renderings

Posted on Monday 18 December 2006

mercedes.jpgGerman magazine Autobild has created renderings of the new generation GLK mini-SUV and SL sports convertible. Sales in Europe are expected to begin around 2008 with US sales delayed until 2009. The GLK will be manufactured in DaimlerChrysler’s plant in Bremen, northern Germany. The likely platform will be shared with the next generation C-class with styling expected to follow the lines of the recently launched GL large SUV. We think it’ll sell well, especially when compared to BMWs problematic X3 and the new Land Rover LR2.

As for the SL, we’ll have to wait until AutoBild releases more details, but you can see from the rendering that it’s expected to look uglier than the current model. We expected something futuristic and ground-breaking from Mercedes for its high-end convertible but it looks like they’ll be taking the boring route. Click here to see the renderings.
