Chrysler, Hughes announce deal

Tim Moran | | Automotive News / January 8, 2007 - 1:00 am DETROIT -- The Chrysler group said Friday that it had signed an agreement to use Hughes Telematics Inc. hardware and satellite services in all Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep vehicles.

George Murphy, Chrysler's senior group vice president of global brand marketing, would not identify the initial vehicle to carry the system or estimate when all vehicles will be Hughes-equipped.

Telematics is the generic label for electronics, software and functions that connect the moving vehicle to information and communications.
