LEFTLANENEWS - - The prototypes for a new Dodge crossover vehicle to do battle with the Ford Edge, Toyota Highlander, Saturn Outlook, GMC Acadia, and the rest of the burgeoning crossover crowd has been spied yet again. This all-new model–known internally as the JC49–is based on the Chrysler Sebring and Avenger sedans, but displays a clearly larger platform. The JC49 was originally spied in mid-decemmeber with sparse details.

Dodge styling cues seen in these new pictures include the cross-hair grille design, headlights which appear to have some of the Nitro's detailing, along with a chiseled shoulder line, flared wheel arches and chunky lower body sculpting appear somewhat Caliber-inspired. The new spy shots offer us a brief glimpse of the new vehicle's interior.

This new crossover from Dodge is expected to be on sale in early 2008 as part of the late 2008 or early 2009 model years. Pricing could reportedly be as low as $20,000 and availability will begin in early 2008. A Chrysler spin-off is still looking likely for 2010, and is referred to as by the code name JZ49. The uniquely styled Chrysler model may serve as the replacement for the Pacifica or PT Cruiser.
