DaimlerChrysler's Zetsche Aims to Expand Commercial Truck Sales in India,

GLOBAL FLEET CENTRAL, STUTTGART, GERMANY – DaimlerChrysler AG said it will expand truck sales in India, the world’s second-fastest growing major economy, according to Bloomberg.com.

The company expects truck sales to outpace demand for Mercedes-Benz brand luxury cars in the country.

DaimlerChrysler expects sales of commercial vehicles to grow in India as the country builds more roads and port infrastructure. The Stuttgart, Germany-based automaker started selling Mercedes-Benz Actros medium-duty trucks in India last month. Industry-wide sales of trucks and buses in India rose 10 percent to 350,683 units in the year ended Mar. 31, according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers.
