Chrysler group plans no new sales incentives

Reuters / November 29, 2006 - 2:00 pm LOS ANGELES -- The Chrysler group has no plans to launch new U.S. sales incentives before the end of the year and is working with dealers to eliminate sales bank inventory, Joe Eberhardt, its vice president for sales and marketing, said today.

Eberhardt said the Chrysler group was working to gets its unaccounted for unsold inventory "down toward zero" in the next several weeks.

Eberhardt also said dealer inventory was in the low 500,000s, consistent with the automaker's year-end goal.

Looking ahead, Eberhardt said he expects U.S. industry sales to be roughly flat next year.

"I expect the market to be about the same level it was this year," he said, adding that weakening consumer confidence and a slowing housing market were "somewhat worrying."
