DaimlerChrysler small car unit Smart still sees breakeven at opg level in 2007

MADRID (AFX) - DaimlerChrysler AG's small car unit Smart still expects to achieve a breakeven at the operating profit level this year, Smart head Ulrich Walker said.Speaking to reporters last night at the launch of the new Smart Fortwo model, Walker also said the company aims to be profitable in the coming years. He declined to give specifics.He said with the two Fortwo, Smart hopes to get more customers.The previous Fortwo sold a total of 770,000 units during its nine-year model cycle from 1998.marilyn.gerlach@afxnews.com
