DETROIT --
The Chrysler group cut its inventory 14 percent from the end of December, from 568,410 to 488,410, said Steven Landry, Chrysler's vice president of sales and field operations. As of Jan. 18, Chrysler's stock of 2006 vehicles was down to 18 percent of total inventory, compared with 82 percent for 2007 models.

Chrysler was plagued by high inventories of unsold vehicles last year. Many dealers were angered by the tactics the company used to try to unload them.
