WINDSOR, ON, Feb. 1 /CNW/ - DaimlerChrysler Canada today reported a total

Compared to January 2006 when 16,405 units were sold, sales for the month are
up 0.7 per cent. Car sales for January decreased 15 per cent, while truck
sales rose 6.3 per cent.
"With six consecutive months of sales increases, you can certainly say we
are on a roll," said Dave Buckingham, Vice President - Sales, DaimlerChrysler
Canada. "Consumer reaction has been positive to new models like the
Jeep Compass, four-door Wrangler and Dodge Caliber, but also to our volume
leaders: Dodge Ram and Dodge Caravan."

January Sales Highlights

Two of Chrysler Group's most important products demonstrated market
strength again this month. Dodge Ram sales hit a January record high of 2,794
units, an increase of 10 per cent over the 2002 record. And Dodge Caravan
sales of 4,347 units were up 6.3 per cent. New truck models selling well this
month include Jeep(R) Compass (939 units), Dodge Nitro (566 units), and the
new Jeep Wrangler (593 units).
While car sales were down overall, sales of the new Chrysler Sebring hit
728 units and Dodge Caliber continues to gain market share of the compact car
segment with sales of 1,506 units. Dodge Charger continues to sell well and
was up 23.4 per cent to 457 units.

New, Fuel-efficient Vehicles

In addition to the recently introduced Jeep Compass, Dodge Caliber and
redesigned Chrysler Sebring, Chrysler Group will add two more fuel-efficient
models to the line-up this quarter: Jeep Patriot and Dodge Avenger. A new,
clean diesel-powered Jeep Grand Cherokee will also begin arriving in showrooms
in March.
