Chrysler raises its minority purchasing

Automotive News / February 5, 2007 - 1:00 am | DETROIT -- The Chrysler group last week said it spent $3.9 billion on its purchasing with minority suppliers in 2006.

Chrysler increased its minority supply spending 0.5 percent compared with 2005. All told, the DaimlerChrysler unit said minority suppliers won 13.5 percent of its total purchasing in 2006.

Chrysler also said its Tier 1 suppliers are expected to source at least 8.5 percent of their contracts through qualified minority suppliers during 2007.
