DaimlerChrysler moves Smart head to Asia role


Reuters / FRANKFURT -- DaimlerChrysler today named Ulrich Walker, now head of its Smart small car division, as CEO of DaimlerChrysler Northeast Asia, effective immediately.

That means Walker, 55, will be responsible for all the carmaker's operations and joint ventures in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and the Republic of Korea, it said in a statement.

He will also be the chairman of DaimlerChrysler's China Executive Board, which comprises representatives from all the company's divisions
