DaimlerChrysler Sales Drop 1.6 Percent

DaimlerChrysler AG reported a 1.6 percent drop in U.S. sales last month due mainly to a slump at the company's Chrysler Group.

Chrysler's sales dropped 3.2 percent, partly offset by a 12.3 percent increase at Mercedes-Benz, which recorded a record October sales figure.

DaimlerChrysler (nyse: DCX - news - people )'s U.S. shares rose $1.22, or 2 percent, to $58.15 in midday trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
